ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

A Flow Information-Based Prediction Model Applied to the Nonaxisymmetric Hub Optimization of a Centrifugal Impeller
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A full-range prediction model for turbomachinery based on the flow-field information code is established in this article to solve the problems that traditional models do not have enough prediction accuracy and cannot reflect ...
A Theoretical Model to Predict Pool Boiling Critical Heat Flux for Micro/Nano-Structured Surfaces
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Accurate estimation of critical heat flux (CHF) is essential in determining the maximum heat a boiling system is capable of extracting. This study presents a theoretical model for predicting CHF over microchannel, ...
Design of Contact-Aided Compliant Flexure Hinge Mechanism Using Superelastic Nitinol
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper presents a novel miniature contact-aided compliant mechanism (CCM) that includes flexure hinges and contact-aided structures. This continuum mechanism comprises a nickel–titanium alloy (Nitinol) tube with CCM ...
Design of a Flexure Rotational Time Base With Varying Inertia
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Flexure oscillators are promising time bases, thanks to their high quality factor and monolithic design compatible with microfabrication. In mechanical watchmaking, they could advantageously replace the traditional balance ...
Multi-Objective Optimization for High-Dimensional Expensively Constrained Black-Box Problems
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Multi-objective optimization (MOO) problems with computationally expensive constraints are commonly seen in real-world engineering design. However, metamodel-based design optimization (MBDO) approaches for MOO are often ...
Sub-Second Prediction of the Heatmap of Powder-Beds in Additive Manufacturing Using Deep Encoder–Decoder Convolutional Neural Networks
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Physical modeling of the transient temperature during the Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) Additive Manufacturing (AM) process is essential for the characterization of the quality and structural integrity of the final ...
Design and Characterization of a Flexible Self-Inflating Mechanical Structure
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Inflatable structures are commonly used in a variety of engineering applications such as robotics, space structures, medical devices, and automotive safety devices. However, inflation in these systems often requires a ...
Product Multibody Dynamics Analysis for Low-Carbon Footprint
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: With the increasingly serious global climate problem, the low-carbon design of products has gradually become an important direction of sustainable manufacturing. The optimization design of product structure is one of the ...
Nonlinear Dynamics of the Parametric Pendulum With a View on Wave Energy Harvesting Applications
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In this article, nonlinear dynamics tools are employed to quantify the ability of pendulum harvesters to recover energy from the sea waves. The versatility of pendulum harvesters is highlighted, as it is shown that devices ...
Crystallographic Design of Intercalation Materials
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Intercalation materials are promising candidates for reversible energy storage and are, for example, used as lithium-battery electrodes, hydrogen-storage compounds, and electrochromic materials. An important issue preventing ...
