ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Impact of Materials and Design on Solid Oxide Fuel Cell Stack Operation
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Planar SOFC stack technology based on a unique concept (SOFConnex™) uses structured gas distribution layers between unprofiled metal sheet interconnects and thin Ni-YSZ anode supported electrolyte ...
Chemically Enhanced Sunlight for Killing Bacteria
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Solar ultraviolet (UV) photocatalyzed oxidation of chemicals with titanium dioxide (TiO2 ) has received considerable attention. Much less recognized, however, is the ability of the same system ...
Dynamic Modeling and Locomotion Control for Quadruped Robots Based on Center of Inertia on SE(3)
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Quadruped robots have good mobility and agility in complex environments, but dynamic control of locomotion for quadruped robots has long been a big challenge for researchers. In this paper, we build the center of inertia ...
State of the Art: Hydrogen storage
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Hydrogen is often considered to be the ultimate energy source for vehicles. However, if hydrogen is to fuel practical vehicles, then the development of fuel cell and hydrogen fueled engine ...
Void Growth in an Elastic-Plastic Medium
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The uniaxial deformation of an elastic-plastic medium containing a doubly periodic square array of circular cylindrical voids is studied under plane-strain conditions. Both the effects of geometrical ...
An Upper Bound on the Small Displacements of Elastic, Perfectly Plastic Structures
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: An inequality is described which allows the evaluation of upper bounds to the displacement of an elastic/perfectly plastic structure subject to variable loading. Simple examples indicate that ...
Control Strategy Optimization of a Fuel-Cell Electric Vehicle
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In the last decades, due to emission reduction policies, research focused on alternative powertrains among which electric vehicles powered by fuel cells are becoming an attractive solution. The ...
Development of Evaluation Technologies for Microtubular SOFCs Under Pressurized Conditions
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: We developed evaluation technologies for microtubular solid oxide fuel cells under pressurized conditions. The pressurized cell evaluation system for the single cell was produced. The chamber ...
Parametric Sensitivity Analysis of Fast Load Changes of a Dynamic MCFC Model
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Molten carbonate fuel cells are well suited for stationary power production and heat supply. In order to enhance service lifetime, hot spots, respectively, high temperature gradients inside the ...
Constructive Proof of Preisach Right Inverse With Applications to Inverse Compensation of Smart Actuators With Hysteresis
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Hysteresis poses a significant challenge for control of smart material actuators. If unaccommodated, the hysteresis can result in oscillation, poor tracking performance, and potential instability when the actuators are ...
