ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Dynamic Stability of a Beam Carrying Moving Masses
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The dynamic stability of the lateral response of a simply supported Bernoulli-Euler beam carrying a continuous series of equally spaced mass particles is analyzed. The beam rests on a uniform ...

The Use of a High Temperature Wind Tunnel for MT-SOFC Testing—Part II: Use of Computational Fluid Dynamics Software in Order to Study Previous Measurements
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Micro-tubular solid oxide fuel cells (MT-SOFCs) are a much smaller version of larger tubular SOFCs. They are operational within seconds and allow a higher power density per volume than the ...
Equivalent Linearization of a Squeeze Film Damper
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In this paper, the equivalent linearization of an intershaft squeeze film damper in a two shaft engine system is investigated. The two shaft centers at the damper position are assumed to move ...
Adaptive Dynamic Surface Control of Bouc–Wen Hysteretic Systems
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper develops an adaptive dynamic surface algorithm for designing the control law for uncertain hysteretic structural systems with seismic disturbances that can be converted to a semi strict feedback form. Hysteretic ...
Complex Envelopes for Oscillations in Slightly Nonlinear Systems
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A complex envelope f (t) is used to replace the traditional sine and cosine envelopes of the response of a sinusoidally forced, slightly nonlinear system, so that the response is y(t) = Re ...
Performance Evaluation of Solid Oxide Fuel Cell Engines Integrated With Single/Dual-Spool Turbochargers
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This study investigates the performance and operating characteristics of 5kW-class solid oxide fuel cell and gas turbine (SOFC/GT) hybrid systems for two different configurations, namely single- ...
Dynamic Weight Shifting for Improved Maneuverability and Rollover Prevention in High Speed Mobile Manipulators
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Mobile manipulators have reduced maneuverability and risk rolling over when operated at high speeds. One of the main contributing factors is the higher center of gravity (CG) due to the manipulator arm. This paper proposes ...
On the Interaction of Thermally Induced Buckling and Debond Propagation in Patched Structures
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The coupling of edge debonding and thermal buckling of patched beam-plates possessing initial edge detachment is examined for the case when the structure is subjected to a uniform temperature ...
