ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

A Two-Stage Local Positioning Method With Misalignment Calibration for Robotic Structural Monitoring of Buildings
Publisher: American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In structural health monitoring (SHM) applications carried out by mobile robots, the precise locating of the SHM robot is essential for accurate detection and quantification of defects. The traditional dead reckoning (DR) ...
Temperature Distribution Optimization of an Air-Cooling Lithium-Ion Battery Pack in Electric Vehicles Based on the Response Surface Method
Publisher: American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Electric vehicles have become a trend in recent years, and the lithium-ion battery pack provides them with high power and energy. The battery thermal system with air cooling was always used to prevent the high temperature ...
A Review of Model Inaccuracy and Parameter Uncertainty in Laser Powder Bed Fusion Models and Simulations
Publisher: American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper presents a comprehensive review on the sources of model inaccuracy and parameter uncertainty in metal laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) process. Metal additive manufacturing (AM) involves multiple physical phenomena ...
Vibrational Properties of a Hemispherical Shell With Its Inner Fluid Pressure: An Inverse Method for Noninvasive Intracranial Pressure Monitoring
Publisher: American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Vibration due to a hammer impact on an aluminum hemisphere fully filled with water is determined to study the frequency response of the structure at different inner fluid pressures. Modal analysis techniques are utilized ...
Seven Degrees-of-Freedom Model for the Roll Stabilization of Unstable Ships
Publisher: American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: As demonstrated by the 2014 MV Sewol incident, the prevention of top heavy ship capsize is necessary to protect life and property aboard a ship. The goal of this paper is to prevent the capsize of ships, which lack a ...
Product Sustainable Design: A Review From the Environmental, Economic, and Social Aspects
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: As a global concern, the sustainability of a product is the responsibility for manufacturing. Product design has become one of the sources and core drivers for manufacturing competition, and the international competitiveness ...
Effect of Surface Wave on Development of Turbulent Boundary Layer Over a Train of Rib Roughness
Publisher: American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In this paper, detailed experimental results are reported to study the effect of the surface wave of different frequencies on unidirectional current over the bed-mounted train of rib roughness. The model roughness used in ...
Fabrication of Hybrid Surface Composites AA6061/(B4C + MoS2) via Friction Stir Processing
Publisher: American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Poor tribological properties restrict structural applications of aluminum alloys and surface composites of aluminum alloys have gained more attention in material processing. The addition of solid lubricant reinforcement ...
Optimization and Standardization of Flanged and Flued Expansion Joint Design
Publisher: American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Flanged and flued type expansion joint (thick wall expansion bellow) used as an integral part of many shell and tube heat exchanger where process conditions produce differential expansion between shell and tubes. It provides ...
Analytical Elastostatic Stiffness Modeling of Overconstrained Parallel Manipulators Using Geometric Algebra and Strain Energy
Publisher: American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A general method for the analytical elastostatic stiffness modeling of overconstrained parallel manipulators (PMs) using geometric algebra and strain energy is proposed. First, an analytical solution of the constraint and ...
