ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Design and Validation of a Torque-Controllable Series Elastic Actuator-Based Hip Exoskeleton for Dynamic Locomotion
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Series elastic actuators (SEAs) are increasingly popular in wearable robotics due to their high fidelity closed-loop torque control capability. Therefore, it has become increasingly important to characterize its performance ...
Effects of Material Properties on Micro-Scale Cutting of TA15 Alloy and Network-Structured TiBw/TA15 Composites
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Currently, it still lacks the controlled studies which compare differences in the machinability between the TA15 alloy and network-structured TiBw/TA15 composites, which is not conducive to promoting the design and practical ...
Design and Control of a Foldable and Reconfigurable Multi-Terrain Vehicle With Variable Wheelbase
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In many rescue and detection tasks, mobile robots are required to transverse over uneven terrains and enter some dangerous environments that people cannot overcome, such as crevices, pipes, gullies, etc. High mobility/speed ...
Compensation of Thermally Induced Errors in Five-Axis Computer Numerical Control Machining Centers Equipped With Different Spindles
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Thermally induced errors are the dominant source of inaccuracy in machine tools today and are often the most difficult type of error to reduce. Software compensation of thermally induced displacements at the tool center ...
Investigation of Surface Roughness in Novel Magnetorheological Finishing of the Internal Hemispherical-Shaped Acetabular Cup Workpieces
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In today’s world, the hemispherical-shaped component’s fine finishing with high wear resistance and dimensional accuracy is required in different applications such as shells, molds, and implants. The magnetorheological ...
Enhanced Strength and High-Temperature Wear Resistance of Ti6Al4V Alloy Fabricated by Laser Solid Forming
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Strengthening titanium alloys and mitigating their wear degradation at various temperatures is the key to industrial applications. In this study, high-performance Ti6Al4V alloy (here, Ti with 6.25 wt% Al and 4.17 wt% V) ...
An Alternative Approach to Compute Chip Thickness in Milling
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The accurate evaluation of the instantaneous undeformed chip thickness (IUCT) plays a crucial role in the modeling of milling processes. However, the vibrations of the tool–workpiece system can make conventional IUCT models ...
Condition Monitoring of Machine Tool Feed Drives: A Review
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The innovations propelling the manufacturing industry towards Industry 4.0 have begun to maneuver into machine tools. Machine tool maintenance primarily concerns the feed drives used for workpiece and tool positioning. ...
On Topological Data Analysis for Structural Dynamics: An Introduction to Persistent Homology
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Topological methods can provide a way of proposing new metrics and methods of scrutinizing data, that otherwise may be overlooked. A method of quantifying the shape of data, via a topic called topological data analysis ...
Design, Improvement and Evaluation of a Novel In Situ Implanted Bionic Artificial Anal Sphincter
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Artificial anal sphincter has gradually become an emerging means of treating anal incontinence. However, most of the systems cannot be implanted in the human body for a long time due to insufficient reliability. Therefore, ...
