ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

An Experimental Study on Heat Transfer Enhancement of Non Newtonian Fluid in a Rectangular Channel With Dimples/Protrusions
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Dimple and protrusion play important roles in the heat transfer enhancement and flow characteristic in cooling channels, which widely employed within electronic cooling systems. NonNewtonian fluid has significant differences ...
Two-Phase Flow and Heat Transfer in Rectangular Micro-Channels
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Knowledge of flow pattern and flow pattern transitions is essential to the development of reliable predictive tools for pressure drop and heat transfer in two-phase micro-channel heat sinks. In ...
Advanced Natural Convection Cooling Designs for Light Emitting Diode Bulb Systems
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The movement to lightemitting diode (LED) lighting systems worldwide is accelerating quickly as energy savings and reduction in hazardous materials increase in importance. Government regulations and rapidly lowering prices ...
Effect of Meniscus Recession on the Effective Pore Radius and Capillary Pumping of Copper Metal Foams
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: An experimental study is performed to characterize the effect of meniscus recession on the effective pore radius and capillary pumping of copper metal foams which are to be used as wicks in heat pipes for electronic cooling. ...
Void Detection in Dielectric Films Using a Floating Network of Substrate Embedded Electrodes
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A sensor is developed for simple, in situ characterization of dielectric thermal interface materials (TIMs) at bond line thicknesses less than 100 خ¼m. The working principle is based on the detection of regions of ...
Effects of Channel Height and Planar Spacing on Air Cooling of Electronic Components
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A series of experiments was performed to study forced convection from rectangular arrays of electronic components. Effects of channel height, planar spacing, component row number, and approach ...
Quantitative Solder Wetting Measurement for DCA Assembly
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A quantitative dynamic solder wettability measurement technique was utilized to evaluate the effects of reflow processing on the wettability parameters associated with solder ball alloys. This ...
Reducing Warpage of Printed Circuit Boards by Using Wavy Traces
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Printed circuit boards (PCB’s) often warp when subjected to temperature changes, associated with either the manufacturing process or the usage. In order to reduce the warpage, waviness was ...
Modeling Thermal Stresses in Periodic Structures: Some Observations Regarding the Boundary Conditions
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Periodic structures, that is, structures that consist of a basic pattern which is repeated multiple times, are commonplace in the electronics industry. This paper is concerned with the determination ...
UCPD Model for Pb Free Solder
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A unified creep plasticity damage (UCPD) model for eutectic SnPb and Pbfree solders was developed and implemented into finite element analysis codes. The new model will be described along with the relationship between the ...
