ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Special Section on Probabilistic Digital Twins in Additive Manufacturing
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Additive manufacturing (AM) has made enormous progress over the past decade, as it is capable of producing complex parts with significantly fewer fabrication constraints compared with existing manufacturing technologies ...
Investigation of the Dynamic Performance of High-Speed Railway Bridges in Cold Regions Based on Vehicle–Bridge Coupling Vibrations
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This work uses numerical simulations to systematically study the dynamic performance of high-speed railroad bridges in cold areas based on coupled vibration analyses of axles and vehicles during freeze–thaw cycles. The ...
A Hierarchical Fault Diagnosis Model for Planetary Gearbox With Shift-Invariant Dictionary and OMPAN
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Planetary gearbox has been widely applied in the mechanical transmission system, and the failure types of planetary gearbox are more and more diversified. The conventional fault diagnosis methods focus on identifying the ...
Uncertainty Quantification With Mixed Data by Hybrid Convolutional Neural Network for Additive Manufacturing
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Surrogate models have become increasingly essential for replacing simulation models in additive manufacturing (AM) process analysis and design, particularly for assessing the impact of microstructural variations and process ...
Uncertainty Quantification of Process-Property-Structure Linkage for Fused Filament Fabrication Parts
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Due to the nature of additive manufacturing (AM), design and manufacturing are deeply coupled. Toolpaths are defined based on the part geometry, and in turn, these toolpaths can influence the bonding between adjacent ...
Domain Adaptation of Population-Based of Bolted Joint Structures for Loss Detection of Tightening Torque
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper investigates how to improve the performance of a classifier of tightening torque in bolted joints by applying transfer learning. The procedure uses vibration measurements to extract features and to train a ...
Special Section: Modeling and Analysis of Inspection Uncertainties in Structural Health Monitoring
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The recent advancements in structural health monitoring technology are truly remarkable [1,2], with the utilization of sophisticated methods, such as finite element analysis [3], mathematical statistics [4], and artificial ...
Special Section on Digital Twins: A New Frontier in Critical Infrastructure Protection and Resilience
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A digital twin (DT) is a computational model (or set of coupled) that evolves over time to persistently represent the critical structure, its components, system, or process. Digital twin underpins intelligent automation ...
Reviewer's Recognition
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The Reviewers of the Year Award is given to reviewers who have made an outstanding contribution to the journal in terms of the quantity, quality, and turnaround time of reviews completed during the past 12 months. The prize ...
Complementing Drawability Assessment of Deep-Drawn Components With Surrogate-Based Global Sensitivity Analysis
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In the early-stage development of sheet metal parts, key design properties of new structures must be specified. As these decisions are made under significant uncertainty regarding drawing configuration changes, they sometimes ...
