ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Turbulent Flame Speed and Flame Characteristics of Lean Premixed H2-CH4 Flames at Moderate Pressure Levels
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Carbon dioxide emissions in gas turbine power generation can be reduced by adding an increasing amount of hydrogen to the existing natural gas-fueled combustion systems. To enable safe operation, more insight on how H2 ...
Investigation of Rear Blisk Drum Dynamics Under Consideration of Multi-Stage Coupling
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The analysis of the structural dynamics of multistage cyclic structures as linked components is required to model the interstage coupling. In turbomachinery, this can result in a collaboration between different compressor ...
Functionalization of All-Oxide Ceramic Matrix Composites Elements Using Three-Dimensional Braiding and Pressure Slip Casting for Composite Processing: Approaches to Reduce the Filter Effect of Dense Reinforcement Textiles
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A key element for the transition to sustainable energy lies in the transformation of the power plant fleet, which is dominated by fossil fuels, toward sustainable energy production from renewable energy sources. An increase ...
Multi-Objective Experimental Combustor Development Using Surrogate Model-Based Optimization
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The majority of premixed industrial gas turbine combustion systems feature two or more separately controlled fuel lines. Every additional fuel line improves the operational flexibility but increases the complexity of the ...
Determination of Cetane Numbers Via Chemical Kinetic Mechanism
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Minimizing global warming is a major task of todays' society. For air transport, sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) produced from renewable sources are a promising key solution. While electric flight is intriguing for short ...
Best Practices for Electricity Generators and Energy Storage Optimal Dispatch Problems
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The growing share of renewable energy sources in the energy mix and the liberalization of electricity markets has drastically affected the operation of electricity generators. Especially, in the last decade, fossil fuel-based ...
Ignition of Various Lubricating Oil Compositions Using a Shock Tube
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: With new restrictions imposed on gas turbine efficiencies and power outputs, lubricating oils are used at higher temperatures and harsher conditions leading to potential, unintended combustion. To establish an understanding ...
An Algorithm for Starved Lubricated Journal Bearings With Optionally Locked Lube Oil Feed Grooves
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Starved lubrication occurs intentionally or unconsciously in many journal bearing applications. However, the determination of its concrete distribution in a journal bearing is rather complex as the different lube oil feed ...
Analysis of High-Frequency Dynamics of a Reacting Jet in Crossflow Based on Large Eddy Simulation
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Distributed combustion systems have shown the potential to reduce emissions as well as increase load and fuel flexibility. A characteristic feature of such systems is a reacting jet in crossflow, which exhibits complex ...
Reduced Order Model of Nonlinear Structures for Turbomachinery Aeroelasticity
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This work concerns the numerical modeling of geometric nonlinear vibrations of slender structures in rotation using an original reduced order model based on the use of dual modes along with the implicit condensation method. ...
