ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Characterization of Spray Field for Water-Emulsified Diesel Using a Pressure Swirl Atomizer Under a Nonreacting Environment
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Employing a mixture or an emulsion of water and diesel fuel is considered a way to reduce gas emissions such as NOx and soot in a gas turbine. This study presents detailed experimental results on the spray characteristics ...
Structure and NOx Emissions of Stratified Hydrogen-Air Flames Stabilized on a Coaxial Injector
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In recent years, the need for low-carbon power has seen hydrogen emerge as a potential fuel to replace conventional hydrocarbons in combustion to limit CO2 emissions in several sectors, including aeronautics. The challenges ...
Intermittency of Flame Structure and Thermo-Acoustic Behavior in a Staged Multipoint Injector Using Liquid Fuel
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This study investigates the impact of the staging factor, the ratio between the fuel injected through the pilot stage and the multipoint injection, on the flame dynamic. The BIMER combustor is an atmospheric pressure rig ...
GLDAN: Global and Local Domain Adaptation Network for Cross-Wind Turbine Fault Diagnosis
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Operating under harsh conditions and exposed to fluctuating loads for extended periods, wind turbines experience a heightened vulnerability in their key components. Early fault detection is crucial to enhance the reliability ...
Performance Evaluation of Additively Manufactured and Hybrid Indexable Milling Tools in Machining of AISI4140+QT and Ti-6Al-4V
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Additively manufactured (AM) cutting tools enable new design concepts in tool development concerning lightweight construction, damping behavior, and internal cutting fluid supply. So far, the impact of the layer-by-layer ...
Virginia Tech Optical Inlet Sensor for Particle Detection: Rolls Royce M250 Turboshaft Demonstration
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Propulsion systems are exposed to environmental ingestion hazards that can cause significant damage and decrease performance. Particles are ingested in a wide range of flight environments that can cause immediate engine ...
Effect of Unsteady Fan-Intake Interaction on Short Intake Design
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The next generation of ultrahigh bypass ratio civil aero-engines promises notable engine cycle benefits. However, these benefits can be significantly eroded by a possible increase in nacelle weight and drag due to the ...
Options for Improving Performance of Additively Manufactured Nickel-Base Superalloys for Gas Turbine Applications
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Additive manufacturing (AM) has been increasingly used for gas turbine (GT) components over the last decade. Many different components can be successfully designed, printed, and used in the gas turbine. However, there still ...
On the Flow Physics During the Transition of a Variable Pitch Fan From Nominal Operation to Reverse Thrust Mode
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The flow field during the transition of variable pitch fans (VPFs) from nominal operation to reverse thrust mode at typical “Approach Idle” engine power setting and aircraft touchdown speed of 140 knots is described in ...
Leakage and Rotordynamic Force Coefficients of a Labyrinth Seal and a Pocket Damper Seal Operating With Wet Gas
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Subsea centrifugal compressors commonly using labyrinth seals (LS) and pocket damper seals (PDS) must withstand the flow of oil in gas mixtures with a liquid volume fraction (LVF) up to 5%. This paper presents experimental ...
