ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Investigation of the Effect of Perforated Sheath on Thermal-Flow Characteristics Over a Gas Turbine Reverse-Flow Combustor—Part 1: Experiment
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Reverse-flow combustors have been used in heavy, land-based gas turbines for many decades. A sheath is typically installed over the external walls of the combustor and transition piece to provide enhanced cooling through ...
Effect of Surface Inclination on Filmwise Condensation Heat Transfer During Flow of Steam–Air Mixtures
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Empirical/semi-empirical correlations are available in the literature to quantify the effect of several major parameters, like bulk pressure, non-condensable gas mass fraction, and wall subcooling, on condensation heat ...
Experimental Investigation of a Flat-Plate Oscillating Heat Pipe With Groove-Enhanced Minichannels
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The thermal and capillary performance of a groove-enhanced, or “microchannel-embedded,” flat-plate oscillating heat pipe (MC FP-OHP) was experimentally investigated while varying heating width, orientation, working fluid ...
Numerical and Experimental Study on the Heat Flux of Double-Wave Trench
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The film cooling characteristics of the transverse trench (TT) and the double-wave trench (DWT) were numerically studied by using Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes simulations with realizable k–ɛ turbulence model and enhanced ...
Heat Transfer and Pressure Drop Measurements in a High Aspect Ratio Channel With Circular Pins and Strip Fins
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper focuses on the measurements of heat transfer enhancement and pressure drop of different pin or fin configurations in a high aspect ratio (AR = 9.57/1.2) channel. Two different pin-fin shapes including circular ...
Soil Thermal Inertia Effect on Shallow Basement Energy Performance in Different Morocco Climates
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This study deals with the energy performance of a shallow basement in six climates ranging from cold to desert climate. A case study of a partially buried house located in the hot semi-arid climate of Marrakech (Morocco) ...
Numerical Optimization of an Ejector for Waste Heat Recovery Used to Cool Down the Intake Air in an Internal Combustion Engine
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In the present paper, a numerical investigation of a jet-ejector is carried out using a real gas model of R1234yf. The prototype under investigation works with specific operating conditions of a jet-ejector refrigeration ...
Thermal Characterization of a Turbulent Free Jet With Planar Laser-Induced Fluorescence
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Two-color, toluene-based, planar laser-induced fluorescence (PLIF) is utilized to characterize the thermal structure of a turbulent, free jet. The PLIF technique has been used to measure concentration gradients for combustion ...
Experimental Study of Air Slot Jet Impingement Cooling From Cylinder Placed on a Flat Plate
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The experimental study for air slot jet impingement cooling from the heated cylinder is carried out. The heated cylinder is placed on a flat plate. The flat plate has an effective dimension as plate length (P) from heat ...
Experimental Investigation of Heat Transfer Enhancement of Shell and Tube Heat Exchanger Using SnO2-Water and Ag-Water Nanofluids
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In this investigation, the performance of the shell and tube heat exchanger operated with tin nanoparticles-water (SnO2-W) and silver nanoparticles-water (Ag-W) nanofluids was experimentally analyzed. SnO2-W and Ag-W ...
