ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Modeling and Optimal Design of a Desalination System Integrated Between a Glass-Covered Solar Collection Water Chamber and a Heat Dissipating Chimney
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Solar thermal energy is trapped in a glass-covered water chamber/basin to provide the heat for evaporation of brackish water in a novel desalination system. To harvest clean water, a chimney is integrated with the water ...
Comparative Study of Typical Electromagnetic Heating Methods in Welded Pipe: Induction Heating Versus Contact Heating
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Typical electromagnetic heating techniques include induction heating (IH) and contact heating (CH). The study of these techniques in welding has always been a controversial topic owing to the lack of straightforward ...
Parametric Study on Axially Grooved Heat Pipe With Two Heat Sources and One Heat Sink With Multiple Branches
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In order to use single heat pipe for multiple heat sources in electronics and space applications, a multibranch heat pipe with two evaporators and a condenser is developed with 20 internal grooves as a wick structure. An ...
An Adaptive Direct Evaporative Cooler That Regulates the Sub-Ambient Temperature by Controlling the Evaporation Rate
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: With the development of technology, people are demanding more comfort in their lives, leading to an increasing demand for space cooling. The traditional cooling process produces a great amount of energy consumption and ...
Manufacturing of Gallium Nitride Thin Films in a Multi-Wafer MOCVD Reactor
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Gallium nitride (GaN) thin films have attracted considerable attention for manufacturing optical and electronic devices. They have wide bandgap and superb performance in these applications. The reliability and durability ...
Self-Thermal Insulation of Containers by the Precipitation and Formation of a Gas Film at the Walls for Thermal Energy Storage
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In this study, consideration is given to a novel idea for thermal storage enhancement by the passive thermal self-insulation of the inside walls of containers when they are deliberately coated by nucleation sites and the ...
Entropy Generation Minimization for Boiling Flow Inside Evaporator Tube With R32 and R410A Refrigerants: A Comparison of Different Two-Phase Flow Models
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The objective of the present work is to find out the optimal mass flux of two common refrigerants, R32 and R410A, undergoing boiling in an evaporator tube based on the entropy generation minimization approach. An entropy ...
Thermal Elastohydrodynamic Lubrication of Herringbone Gear Considering the Effect of Oil Gas Mixture
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In order to analyze the dynamic behavior of the oil film in the herringbone gear meshing area under oil injection lubrication conditions more accurately, this paper proposed a thermal elastohydrodynamic lubrication (TEHL) ...
Experimental Investigation of a Miniature Ejector Using Water as Working Fluid
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper presents an experimental investigation of a miniature ejector using water as the working fluid. The investigated ejector cooling system can utilize the thermal energy to be removed to power the cooling system ...
Subcooled Flow Boiling on Micro-Porous Structured Copper Surface in a Vertical Mini-Gap Channel
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: An experimental investigation of subcooled flow boiling in a rectangular mini-gap channel with the dimension of 0.5 mm × 5 mm was conducted with deionized water as the working fluid. Fabricated by electroless plating method ...
