ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Performance Evaluation of a Fin and Tube Heat Exchanger Based on Different Shapes of the Winglets
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The present work investigates numerically the performance of a fin- and tube-type heat exchanger using the finite volume method. The effect of different winglet geometries, namely, straight profile, concave profile, convex ...
Analysis-Based Key Components Selection of Latent Heat Thermal Energy Storage System Along With Active Heat Transfer Enhancement
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Energy storage is an effective approach to bridging the gap between energy supply and demand created due to the sporadic nature of solar energy. Thermal performance enhancement is a key research subject for effective energy ...
Effect Analysis on the Maximum Nondimensional Temperature in the Cold Plate in Battery Thermal Management System-Based Artificial Neural Network
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A serpentine channel cold plate is a unique configuration of cold plate used extensively in battery thermal management systems due to its low-pressure drop and high heat transfer performance. Generalized analysis on ...
Phase Change and Heat Transfer Analysis of Different Refrigerants During Condensation in Minichannel Using a Novel Numerical Approach
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper analyses the condensation heat transfer phenomena in minichannel using acetone, ammonia, propylene, and R134a as the working fluids used in new-age space applications. A novel numerical model is developed ...
Convective Performance of C5-Flouroketone-Based (C5-FK) and C4-Flouronitrile-Based (C4-FN) Gas Mixtures and SF6
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: SF6 is a widely used insulating gas in the electric power industry due to its high dielectric strength. However, SF6 is classified as a greenhouse gas and has a very high global warming potential (GWP). Much research and ...
Thermal Performance Analysis of Jet Cooling Method in a High-Power Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) is compact and has high-power density. Heat dissipation conditions introduce new challenges and opportunities for further improvement of its power, efficiency, and reliability. In ...
Cooling Characteristic of an Infrared Suppression Device With Single Perforated Funnel: A Computational Fluid Dynamics Approach
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: An infrared suppression (IRS) device is integral to any gas turbine used in naval and cargo ships. Estimating an IRS device’s cooling characteristics is essential to start the maintenance operation. Thus, this article ...
The Effect of Wind Screens on the Performance of an Induced Draft Air-Cooled Condenser Under Windless and Windy Conditions
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Wind generally reduces the thermal effectiveness of air-cooled condensers (ACCs). Therefore, this study investigates wind screens as a means to improve the performance of a 20-fan induced draft ACC under windy conditions. ...
Study on Geothermal Heat Exchangers With Nanofluids Containing Ceramic Nanoparticles
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A geothermal heat exchanger (GHE) uses geothermal energy for heating or cooling residential places during winter or summer. Two different designs of GHEs, the straight pipe and coiled pipe designs, are evaluated in this ...
Optimized Film Cooling Flow on a Contoured Endwall Within a Transonic Annular Cascade
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Film cooling was measured on the endwall of a five-vane annular cascade in a blowdown wind tunnel at an exit Mach number of 0.9. The adiabatic film cooling effectiveness was calculated from the partial pressure of oxygen ...
