ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Design Optimization of an Ethanol Heavy-Duty Engine Using Design of Experiments and Bayesian Optimization
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Diesel-fueled engines still hold a large market share in the medium and heavy-duty transportation sector. However, the increase in fossil fuel prices and the strict emission regulations are leading engine manufacturers to ...
Experimental Study on Spark Assisted and Hot Surface Assisted Compression Ignition (SACI, HSACI) in a Naturally Aspirated Single-Cylinder Gas Engine
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Spark assisted compression ignition (SACI) represents an efficacious technique to extend the operating range and control combustion timing in homogeneous charge compression ignition (HCCI) engines. Recently, a hot surface ...
Accelerating Chemical Kinetics Calculations With Physics Informed Neural Networks
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Detailed chemical kinetics calculations can be very computationally expensive, and so various approaches have been used to speed up combustion calculations. Deep neural networks (DNNs) are one promising approach that has ...
High-Fidelity Energy Deposition Ignition Model Coupled With Flame Propagation Models at Engine-Like Flow Conditions
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: With the heightened pressure on car manufacturers to increase the efficiency and reduce the carbon emissions of their fleets, more challenging engine operation has become a viable option. Highly dilute, boosted, and ...
Effects of High Rotational Speed on Leakage and Windage Heating of Staggered Labyrinth Seals With Smooth and Honeycomb Lands
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Being an important component of aero-engines, the labyrinth seal has always been the focus of research for leakage characteristics. Rotation is usually neglected or taken for minimal effect on seal leakage in previous ...
From Pressure Time Series Data to Flame Transfer Functions: A Framework for Perfectly Premixed Swirling Flames
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: We present a two-step optimization (TSO) framework, which uses the pressure data of an unstable combustion process to estimate the complex-valued flame transfer function (FTF). From the pressure time series, we obtain the ...
Solution-Based Mesh Adaption Criteria Development for Accelerating Flame Tracking Simulations
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Solution-based mesh adaption approaches have been widely studied and tested by different research groups to generate the required finer meshes in the critical regions on the fly while keeping the overall mesh count to a ...
An Experimental Investigation on the Dynamic Response Variability of a Turbine Blade With Midspan Dampers
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper addresses two main subjects. First, a novel test setup is described to experimentally study the nonlinear dynamic behavior of a turbine blade coupled with two midspan dampers (MSDs). To this end, a representative ...
Carbon Capture Performance Assessment Applied to Combined Cycle Gas Turbine Under Part-Load Operation
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The growing share of renewable energies in our electricity production, together with the still lacking storage capacity, strongly reinforces the need for more flexible electricity production units. In this context, combined ...
High-Frequency Mode Shape Dependent Flame-Acoustic Interactions in Reheat Flames
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Gas turbines featuring sequentially staged combustion systems offer excellent performance in terms of fuel flexibility, part load performance and combined-cycle efficiency. These reheat combustion systems are therefore a ...
