ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Discussion: “Modeling of Flash Temperature for Elastic Sliding Contact of Single Micro-Asperity Pair” (Wu, Z., Zhang, Y., Xu, Y., Jie, D., and Jackson, R. L., 2024, ASME J. Tribol., 146(1), p. 011702)
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Reflecting on the application and implications of this work [1], the authors realized that a few items should be discussed.Although the work is for elastic sliding contact, it could be adapted for elastic–plastic contact ...
Oil Film Formation and Delamination Process on Nanostructured Surfaces in Boundary Lubrication: A Coarse-Grained Molecular Dynamics Study
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A series of coarse-grained molecular dynamics simulations were conducted to investigate the temporal evolution of frictional behaviors of lubricants between sliding nanostructured iron surfaces. Grain boundary atoms were ...
Validation of Gear Friction Equation Using Directional Parameter
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In our previous study, the Matsumoto equation was modified by introducing the directivity of machining marks on the tooth surfaces (directional parameter), and it was adapted to estimate the gear friction coefficient with ...
Simulation and Experimental Study on Crack Propagation in Slewing Bearing Steel
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The study investigated the propagation characteristics of surface-initiated cracks in slewing bearing steel and analyzed the influence of initial crack length and orientation on crack propagation. A cohesive zone model ...
Propagation of Uncertainty in Experimental Dynamic Coefficients of Fluid Film Journal Bearings
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The stiffness and damping coefficients of fluid film bearings play a key role in predicting levels of vibration and stability margins in high-performance industrial rotating machinery. However, variability in the coefficients ...
A Fast Calculation Approach for Elastohydrodynamic Finite Line Contacts Applicable to Online Calculations of Rolling Bearing Models
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Finite line contacts in rolling element bearings are usually under the regime of elastohydrodynamic lubrication (EHL). To obtain deeper insights into bearing performance, it is necessary to directly couple EHL contact ...
Experimental Study of Lubricant Distribution and Lubrication Enhancement Induced by Ball Bearing Cage
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The bearing cage played a pivotal role in affecting the lubricant redistribution and lubrication states. In this study, a cage unit is incorporated into an optical ball-on-disc apparatus for the purpose of a quantitative ...
Research on Ferrographic Image Fault Diagnosis Based on Channel Overlapping Technique and Information Fusion Mechanism
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Utilizing computer technology to realize the application of ferrographic intelligent fault diagnosis technology is a foundational investigation to oversee the operations of mechanical equipment. To continuously improve the ...
In Situ Measurement of Oil Reservoir and Oil Layers by Fluorescence Technique in a Ball-on-Disc Test Rig
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The major oil supply for the ball-on-disc contact is provided by the lubricating oil reservoir and the oil ridges; however, the regularity of their changes has not been thoroughly investigated. In this study, the laser-induced ...
Influence of Friction Stir Additive Manufacturing Parameters on Dry Friction and Wear Properties of Al–Mg–Si Alloy's Built Surfaces Fabricated by Sheet Lamination
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In this article, friction stir additive manufacturing, a solid-state process for rapid fabrication of large components, is employed to investigate laminated Al–Mg–Si alloy blocks. The study delves into microstructural ...
