ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Effect of Dehydroxylation on Tribological Performances of Synthetic Magnesium Silicate Hydroxide as Lubricant Additive
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The heat-treated nanoparticle heat-treated magnesium silicate hydroxide (MSHH) was obtained based on the synthesis of lamellar nanoparticle magnesium silicate hydroxide (MSH) and analysis of thermal stability, and the ...
Finite Element Analysis on Thermoelastic Instability of Multidisc Clutches Involving Deformation Modes of Multilayer Material Friction Disc
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A two-dimensional finite element model was developed to investigate thermoelastic instability in multilayered friction discs with finite thickness, considering the deformation modes of the steel core. The model was used ...
Thermoelastohydrodynamic Mixed Lubrication of Combined Rod Seals Operating at High Pressures and Speeds: Mathematical Modeling and Numerical Analysis
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Thermoelastohydrodynamic (TEHD) mixed lubrication characteristics of a step-combined rod seal under high-pressure and high-speed conditions are analyzed in this article. A novel TEHD mixed lubrication model for combined ...
Numerical Point Contact Model of Mixed Elastohydrodynamic Lubrication for Transversely Isotropic Coating
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Transverse isotropy, a typical property of coating providing protection or lubrication for transmission parts, is different from isotropy focused in most of previous research, catching increasing attention in recent years. ...
Tribological Behavior and Surface Analysis of Ni–P/BP Coatings
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Nickel–phosphorus/black phosphorus (Ni–P/BP) coatings were deposited on ordinary carbon structural steel (Q235 steel) by electroless plating. The tribological behavior of the Ni–P/BP coatings and traditional nickel–phosphorus ...
On the Role of Friction Modifier Additives in the Oil Control Ring and Piston Liner Contact
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In-cylinder internal combustion engine parasitic frictional losses continue to be an area of interest to improve efficiency and reduce emissions. This study investigates the frictional behavior at the oil control ring–cylinder ...
Study on Oil Supply Characteristics of Connecting Rod Small End Bearing With Splash Lubrication by Smooth Particle Hydrodynamics Method
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The lubricating oil distribution significantly impacts the lubrication and cooling of the connecting rod small end bearing during the splash lubrication. This study investigates the oil supply for the small end bearing ...
A Universal Mixing Rule for the High-Pressure Viscosity of Oil/Refrigerant Mixtures
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Bearing life analysis for the rolling element bearings in refrigeration compressors requires an accurate estimate of the film thickness. An alternative is offered here to the experimentally challenging pressure–viscosity ...
A Transformative Time for Tribology
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: I am honored and excited to begin a term guiding the Editorial Board of the ASME Journal of Tribology. Led by an excellent group of Associate Editors, we hope to build on the journal's established place in the field and ...
Evolution and Action Mechanism of Relative Negative Pressure Zone in Spiral Groove Gas Face Seal for Aero-Engine
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: As an advanced sealing technology, the application of gas face seal in aero-engine is few; if possible, lower specific fuel consumption, higher thrust-weight ratio, and effective secondary flow control at minimal cost would ...
