ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Investigation of Roller Bearing Cage Pocket Lubrication and Friction
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A test rig was designed and developed to assess the lubrication and friction of a single cylindrical roller and a conformal cage pocket. The roller was lubricated via oil bath in a sealed housing. Inner and outer bearing ...
Study of Magnetorheological Grease Flow in a Double Restriction Seal Configuration
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This work presents an investigation of magnetohydrodynamic flow in a novel double restriction seal configuration using micro-Particle Image Velocimetry (µPIV). A conventional seal design has been modified to impart magnetic ...
Effects of Axial Clearance on Surface Initiated Flaking in Tapered Roller Bearings
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The calculating method for fatigue life of rolling bearings is based on the theory of Lundberg and Palmgren. The rated life is determined from the ratio of the dynamic load rating of the bearing to the dynamic equivalent ...
Effects of Heat Treatment on Sliding Wear and Milling Properties of Ti-6Al-4V Prepared by Selective Laser Melting
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy manufactured by selective laser melting (SLM) has a unique structure and properties. They offer a higher yield and ultimate tensile strengths but lower ductility than traditionally processed samples. ...
On the Uniqueness of Wear Coefficient for Abrasive Wear at Nanoscale
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Materials wear is often characterized by empirical relations as the physical and chemical interactions at sliding interfaces are not fully understood at any length scale. Recent studies showed that these wear relations do ...
Modeling of Crossed Roller Bearings Considering Roller Roundness Deformation
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper presents a quasi-static five degrees-of-freedom model of crossed roller bearings that considers roller roundness deformation. The existing models of rolling element bearing do not account for ball and/or roller ...
Study Tribological Properties of MoDTC and Its Interactions With Metal Detergents
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Recently, the synergistic tribological properties between molybdenum dialkyldithiocarbamate (MoDTC) and metal detergents have been the focus of significant attention due to the high requirements of engine oil. In this ...
Effects of Defect on Roller-Raceway Contact State and Friction Torque of Tapered Roller Bearings
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The occurrence of defects is unavoidable during the service of tapered roller bearings (TRBs). Unfortunately, there is little information available in the literature about the mechanisms of effects of the defect on ...
Study on Logarithmic Crowning of Tapered Roller Profile Considering Angular Misalignment
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The angular misalignment of the tapered roller contact pair aggravates the stress edge effect and the stress concentration effect at the contact field, which in turn would affect bearing capacity and fatigue life of the ...
Hydrodynamic Performance Characteristics of a Fluid Film Journal Bearing With a Rectangular Jacking Pocket
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: To compensate for an extremely heavy journal, jacking pockets can be added to the surface of pads in fluid film bearings. Jacking pockets can range in size and shape and will have an influence on the hydrodynamic performance ...
