ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Enhanced Tribological Properties of an Advanced Al–Al2O3 Composite Infiltrated With a Tin-Based Alloy
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In this article, a new hybrid material is elaborated, which combines the advantages of the mechanically more resistive alloy-based composites and the effective lubricating properties of tin-based alloys with the purpose ...
A Perspective on Tribology and Design
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The quality of design determines the performance of all tribological systems. Tribological failures of the system may be avoided through rational and creative design. In that sense, there is a symbiotic relationship between ...
Contact Characteristics Analysis of Deep Groove Ball Bearings Under Combined Angular Misalignments and External Loads
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Due to the uncontrollable factors in the installation process, the angular misalignments of the inner and outer races may exist in deep groove ball bearings. In order to analyze the performances of bearings with misalignments, ...
Tribological Behavior of Electrical Connector Coatings Under Reciprocating Motion
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: With the rapid growth in the use of electronics, more studies are focusing on the tribological performance of electrical connectors. The most common electroplating coating materials are tin and copper. One major issue is ...
Online Friction–Thermal–Load Coupling Model of an Arbitrary Curve Contact Under Mixed Lubrication Considering Actual Operating Conditions
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The existing fractal contact model fails to solve the problem of online real-time irregular curvilinear contact under mixed lubrication conditions. In this study, a novel arbitrary curve contact model is established, ...
Modeling and Dynamic Analysis of Cylindrical Roller Bearings Under Combined Radial and Axial Loads
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: To improve the endurance and reliability of cylindrical roller bearings (CRBs) under complex operating conditions, a dynamic model of CRB is developed. The model incorporates a roller–raceway contact model to optimize ...
Understanding the Role of Directional Texture in Tribofilm Evolution
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper reports a study of the evolution of directional texture and its role in the manipulation of tribofilm layers under boundary lubrication (BL). The use of surface protective tribofilms/lubricant chemistries along ...
Implementation of the Elrod Algorithm in Practical Design of an Axial Lubricant Supply Groove in Journal Bearings
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The Elrod algorithm was implemented to study the effects of axial lubricant supply groove parameters, i.e., groove length, width, and location, on the performance of a one-axial groove journal bearing, taking into consideration ...
Mechanical, Tribological, and Corrosion Properties of Composite NiP-Al2O3 With Different Amount of Particles
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In this study, the influence of Al2O3 particle amounts on the mechanical, tribological, and corrosion properties of the composite NiP-Al2O3 coating was evaluated. AISI 4140 steel was coated with NiP through an autocatalytic ...
Novel Thrust Foil Bearing With Pocket Grooves for Enhanced Static Performance
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The integration of foil bearing technology into high-speed oil-free machines has been slow in progress, in part, due to the low load-carrying capacity of the foil thrust bearing. It is crucial this issue is addressed through ...
