ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Enhancing Gas Turbine Power Plant Performance in Tropical Climates by Using Inlet Air Cooling With Desiccant Dehumidification and Evaporative Cooling
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Gas turbine power plants play a critical role in meeting the increasing demand for electricity. However, their performance can be affected by high ambient temperatures and humidity levels in tropical climates, which can ...
An Experimental and Computational Investigation of Ranque–Hilsch Vortex Tube Heat Transfer Characteristics
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Ranque–Hilsch vortex tubes have the extraordinary ability to split an incoming stream of fluid into two streams—one with a lower absolute total temperature than the incoming flow and the other with greater total temperature. ...
Modeling Heat Transfer Through Concentric Cylindrical Layers for Controlled Thermal Regulation of a Commercial Research Cryostat
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The thermal characteristics of a variable temperature, flowing vapor cryostat are theoretically modeled, accounting for specific geometrical and material constraints, temperature-varying heat transfer coefficients, and ...
Numerical Analysis of the Thermal–Hydraulic Performance of Supercritical Liquefied Natural Gas in Airfoil Fin PCHEs
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: As a novel, compact, and efficient plate-fin heat exchanger, the Printed Circuit Heat Exchanger (PCHE) is a prospective candidate for liquefied natural gas (LNG) vaporization at low-temperature and high pressure. Generally, ...
Thermal and Electrical Analysis of N-PVT-FPC Hybrid Active Heating of Biogas Plant
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In order to increase biogas production during winter months/cold climatic conditions, a self-sustained N-photovoltaic thermal and flat plate collector (PVT-FPC) hybrid active heating biogas plant has been analyzed in terms ...
Performance Analysis of a New ORC-VCC System With Mechanical Overheating and Correlation Fitting of Most Important System Parameter
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper proposes a new organic Rankine cycle + vapor compression cycle (ORC-VCC) system (with mechanical overheating refrigeration cycle), and this system can not only reduce the heat absorption of the ORC evaporator, ...
Effect Mechanism of Ambient Air Parameters on the Thermal Performance for Cooling Towers
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: As the volume of natural draft wet cooling towers (NDWCTs) continues to increase, the influence of ambient air on the thermal performance of the NDWCT is not clear. Therefore, the main parameters such as gas–water ratio, ...
Mixed Convective Heat Transfer Characteristics of Graphene Nanofluid Strengthened by Periodically Direction-Switching Electric Field
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Transformer-oil with low thermal conductivity and large viscosity has poor heat dissipation capability, which leads to the thermal drive failure caused by transient overload. To improve its cooling capability, this paper ...
An In-Depth Comparison of Straight and Wavy Microchannel Heat Exchangers
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper presents extensive fluid flow and Heat-Transfer studies conducted using a commercial computational fluid dynamics (CFD) package known as CFD-ACE® to elaborate and expand on the reference studies available for ...
Numerical Investigation on Thermal Performance of Nanofluid-Assisted Wickless Heat Pipes for Electronic Thermal Management
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Heat pipes are passive heat transfer systems and serve as an effective thermal management solution for electronic devices. The adaptability of heat pipes makes these suited for a wide application range, especially in the ...
