ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

A Dimension Selection-Based Constrained Multi-Objective Optimization Algorithm Using a Combination of Artificial Intelligence Methods
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The computational cost of modern simulation-based optimization tends to be prohibitive in practice. Complex design problems often involve expensive constraints evaluated through finite element analysis or other computationally ...
Analysis and Optimization of Crucial Factors Affecting Efficacy of Microwave Ablation
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Microwave ablation (MA) has emerged as a better and more promising alternative to medicate the primitive stage of cancer. Significant advantages of MA include organ-specific treatment and the prospect of treating ≥3 cm ...
Heat Transfer Enhancement in Laminar Pipe Flow Using Al2O3–Water Nanofluid and Twisted Tape Inserts
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In this study, an attempt has been made to carry out a numerical investigation using water-based Al2O3 nanofluid, flowing through a circular tube under constant inlet temperature and constant heat flux conditions in the ...
Aerodynamic Performance and Leakage Flow in Turbine Cascades With Sweeping Jet Actuators
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In recent years, unsteady flow-control technology has been considered as more promising for reducing secondary flow loss in turbines. Sweeping jet actuators (SJAs), in particular, have steadily been used in turbomachinery ...
Joint Special Issue: Design and Control of Responsive Robots
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Robots are complex controlled dynamical systems interacting with their environment. Agile robotic systems have been penetrating almost all industrial sectors as the backbone for industrial automation, ranging from heavy ...
Mitigation of Heat Transfer Deterioration of Supercritical CO2 Vertical Tube Upward Flows by Introducing Truncated-Ribs in Helical-Like Distribution
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: To effectively alleviate the heat transfer deterioration (HTD) phenomenon of supercritical CO2 flow in a vertical circular tube, this paper proposes multiple truncated ribs from a whole O-ring rib but distributed in ...
Monitoring Wear of a Deep Groove Ball Bearing Using Ultrasonic Reflection
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Wear changes the contact state and contact stiffness of the interface between the ball and the outer raceway under the operation of a deep groove ball bearing, resulting in the change of reflection coefficient of the ...
Lower Extremity Response to Blast Loading: A Computational Study
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This study has investigated the response of the Total Human Model for Safety (THUMS) lower extremity finite element model under blast loading. Response of the model was estimated in simulated underbody blast (UBB) loading ...
A Design Approach of a Dedicated Exhaust-Gas Recirculation-System for a Naturally Aspirated Gas Engine—From One-Dimensional Engine Process Simulation and Design of Experiments Up to the Experimental Validation
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This work presents a systematic approach proceeding from the engine process simulation (one-dimensional (1D)-computational fluid dynamics (CFD)) and design of experiments (DoE) up to the experimental validation to build a ...
Face Turning of Single Crystal (111)Ge: Cutting Mechanics and Surface/Subsurface Characteristics
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Single crystal Ge is a semiconductor that has broad applications, especially in manipulation of infrared light. Diamond machining enables the efficient production of surfaces with tolerances required by the optical industry. ...
