ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Thermal Design Criteria for Extraordinary Performance of Devices Cooled by Microchannel Heat Sink
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Increasing power dissipation in microprocessors and other devices is leading to the consideration of more capable thermal solutions than the traditional air-cooled fin heat sinks. Microchannel ...
Triple-Choking Model for Ejector
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In this study, a 1D analysis has been presented for the prediction of ejector performance at critical mode operation. The new triple-choking model has been developed using the governing equations ...
Modeling Subcooled Flow Film Boiling in a Vertical Tube
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A two-fluid one-dimensional model has been developed to predict the wall temperature of an internally heated tube during inverted annular flow film boiling (IAFB). The model is derived using ...
Bouyancy Effect on Forced Convection in Vertical Tubes at High Reynolds Numbers
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The complex interaction of forced and natural convections depends on flow regime and flow direction. Aiding flow occurs when both driving forces act in the same direction (heating upflow fluid ...
Thermal Protection System for Underwater Use in Cold and Hot Water
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Underwater workers, sport and military divers, are exposed to thermal stress since most of the waters of the world are below or above what is thermally neutral. Although divers wear insulation ...
Heat Transfer From Novel Target Surface Structures to a 3×3 Array of Normally Impinging Water Jets
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Impinging jet arrays provide a means to achieve high heat transfer coefficients and are used in a wide variety of engineering applications such as electronics cooling. The objective of this ...
Performance of Heat Pump Water Heater (HPWH) Systems and Their Impacts on Electric Utility Loads
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This work involves measurements, analyses, and evaluation of performance of air-source heat pump water heaters (HPWHs), and their impacts on electric utility loads. Two add-on, heat pumps (HPs) ...
Heat Transfer in Hot Pressing of Saturated Fiber Suspensions
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper presents a three-dimensional numerical framework based on lattice Boltzman method combined with the energy equation for predicting the thermal properties of saturated fiber networks. ...
Extended Results for Fully Developed Laminar Forced Convection Heat Transfer in Trapezoidal Channels of Plate-Fin Exchangers
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Fully developed laminar flow heat transfer in a plate-fin heat exchanger with interfin core channels of trapezoidal cross section and by extension, its limiting rectangular and triangular cross ...
Computational Investigation of Cold Flow in a Dump Combustor With Tapered Exit
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper reports the results of a numerical study of the cold flow field in a dump combustor with a tapered exit. The numerical model was benchmarked against the data available in the ...
