ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Modeling and Analysis of Flow, Thermal, and Energy Fields Within Stacks of Thermoacoustic Engines Filled With Porous Media: A Conjugate Problem
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In this paper, an analytical study has been conducted on the flow and energy transfer of an unsteady compressible oscillating flow through channels filled with porous media representing stacks ...
Nanofluid Properties and Their Effects on Convective Heat Transfer in an Electronics Cooling Application
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In the search for new, more effective coolant fluids, nanoparticle suspensions have shown promise due to their enhanced thermal conductivity. However, there is a concomitant increase in the ...
Computational Heat Transfer Analysis of the Effect of Skirts on the Performance of Third-World Cookstoves
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In many developing countries, natural gas, wood, or biomass fired cookstoves find prolific usage. Skirts, placed around the cookpot, have been proposed as a means to improve the thermal efficiency. ...
Options for Biomass Utilization in Coal Fired Power Stations
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper summarizes the results of engineering investigations conducted using a variety of computational modeling tools to evaluate different options for cofiring up to 10% (input energy) biomass ...
Publisher's Note: Journal of Thermal Science and Engineering Applications, 2009, 1(2)
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The heading “Invited Papers” was inadvertently inserted in the June 2009 (Vol. 1, No. 2) issue table of contents. All titles should have been listed under the heading “Research Papers.”
Aerothermal Challenges in Syngas, Hydrogen-Fired, and Oxyfuel Turbines—Part II: Effects of Internal Heat Transfer
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Future advanced turbine systems for electric power generation, based on coal-gasified fuels with CO2 capture and sequestration, are aimed for achieving higher cycle efficiency and near-zero emission. ...
Novel Jet Impingement Cooling Geometry for Combustor Liner Backside Cooling
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Impinging jets are commonly used to enhance heat transfer in modern gas turbine engines. Impinging jets used in turbine blade cooling typically operate at lower Reynolds numbers in the range ...
A Thermal Model for Concentric-Tube Overfire Air Ports
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A quasisteady multimode heat-transfer model for boiler concentric-tube overfire air ports has been developed that predicts the effect of geometry, furnace heat source and heat sink temperatures, ...
A Quantitative Method for Assessment of Car Inclination Effects on Thermal Management of the Underhood Compartment
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The study presented here concerns the impact of car inclination on the temperatures in the vehicle underhood compartment. We report here underhood thermal measurements carried out on a vehicle ...
Evaluating Thermal Performance and Energy Conservation Potential of Hybrid Earth Air Tunnel Heat Exchanger in Hot and Dry Climate—In Situ Measurement
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Earth air tunnel heat exchanger is a passive cooling device with advantageous feature to reduce energy consumption in buildings. Curtailing the electricity consumption of conventional vapor compression system based ...
