Abstract: This paper reviews the physiological bases of pharmacokinetics and discusses the use of physiological and biochemical information in developing compartmental models. Pharmacokinetic principles are illustrated by reference to published work on methotrexate distribution in several animal species. Use of pharmacokinetics in predicting drug effect is cited.
