description abstract | A new Tabor's parameter دˆ is defined for adhesiondelamination of thin membranes. A small دˆ corresponds to a thick, small, and stiff membrane under the influence of a longrange weak surface force, as in the Derjaguin–Muller–Toporov (DMT) limit. A large دˆ corresponds to a thin, large, and flexible membrane under the influence of a shortrange strong surface force, as in the Johnson–Kendall–Roberts (JKR) limit. A new adhesion map based on دˆ is drawn to summarize the “pulloff†events and the delamination trajectory for membranes under mixed stretchingbending deformation. Maps are generated for oneand twodimensional membranes clamped at the edge. | |
