description abstractA new Tabor's parameter دˆ is defined for adhesiondelamination of thin membranes. A small دˆ corresponds to a thick, small, and stiff membrane under the influence of a longrange weak surface force, as in the Derjaguin–Muller–Toporov (DMT) limit. A large دˆ corresponds to a thin, large, and flexible membrane under the influence of a shortrange strong surface force, as in the Johnson–Kendall–Roberts (JKR) limit. A new adhesion map based on دˆ is drawn to summarize the “pulloffâ€‌ events and the delamination trajectory for membranes under mixed stretchingbending deformation. Maps are generated for oneand twodimensional membranes clamped at the edge.
