    Abstract: In this paper, control and identification methods for vortex wakes are investigated. The particular problem studied concerns the stabilization of vortices behind a flat plate, using backside suction as an actuator. The flow dynamics are modeled with a discrete vortex method. Feedback control results for a linear PI controller are presented as well as identification results for a class of input/output models that can be used to design more sophisticated controllers.
