Abstract: The magnitude of the impulse response of a strictly proper stable rational plant at time t is estimated to be of order 0(1/t) where the implied constant is explicitly given in terms of the spectral energy and the real parts of the zeros and poles. When exact location of poles and zeros is uncertain, this estimate can usefully replace the actual but uncertain exponential decay.
