Abstract: A procedure is presented to study the dynamics of parallel repeated systems with nonpotential interactions within the framework of bond graph technique. This type of interaction, when decoupled, gives rise to complex elements consisting of both real and imaginary parts, which cannot be used for further processing in the conventional bond graph analyzing packages like ENPORT. This shortcoming is removed by reformulating the decoupled subsystem equations to an equivalent form with all real parameters leading to a substantial reduction in size of the system to be studied at a time. The procedure is illustrated by the example of fluidelastic vibration of tube arrays in heat exchangers.
