| description abstract | A second-law state analysis procedure, having on-line capability, has been implemented at a fossil-fueled power station at Huntly, N.Z. The analysis fully integrates the combustion and steam processes in order to provide a viable understanding of the influence of operating parameters on the distribution of losses within the plant. The procedures do not rely significantly on manufacturer’s performance data and the validity of the audit is substantially verifiable. Examples of audit data are presented, including operation with and without the top heater and a comparison of throttle and sliding pressure control. | |
