    Abstract: Municipal refuse-derived fuel and coal were cofired in a retrofitted 125,000 lb steam/hr (55,000 kg/hr) spreader-stoker boiler. Results from 19 tests, which include fuel characteristics, boiler performance, particulate and gaseous emissions, and trace element emissions, are reported. System design and economic considerations are also discussed.
