description abstractIn this paper, a recursive algorithm is derived for computing the Laguerre spectra of a truncated Laguerre series which approximately represents the response of a system characterized by a transfer function model. Based on the minimization of the sum squared-error of a set of Laguerre spectrum equations of the model parameters, a model reduction method is proposed. The method is computationally attractive. An illustrative example is given. The method is also applied to design a model-reference feedback control system.
