Abstract: This paper discusses the fluid mechanics of the droplet-dispersed region of a liquid-spray system. Similarity solutions are sought under various assumptions for two types of common spray: the conical spray and the flat spray. Following the classical approach of Schlichting, for turbulent jet analysis, we obtain a similarity solution for the flat spray under the condition that the droplet motion is not influenced by gravity and interfacial drag. The solution is quite realistic from a physical standpoint. Finally, comparison between the theory and limited experimental data was found to give good agreement.
