    Abstract: The Kennard and Leibowitz method of obtaining the shear coefficient, by equating center-line curvature of a Timoshenko beam to the curvature of a beam subjected to uniform gravity loading, is extended to arbitrary monosymmetric sections. The resulting expression for the coefficient is evaluated for several sections and comparison made with experimental and exact theoretical results.
