description abstractThis paper deals with digital control of m-input, m-output industrial processes. The controller design is based on two kinds of mathematical process models which can be obtained from the process step (or pulse) responses. The structure of the closed loop system includes an integral control action in the main feedback loop and state vector feedback control via observer in the secondary feedback loop. Simple formulas for finite time settling controller and observer gains are given. Two examples are given to illustrate the design procedure and to examine the closed loop sysem behavior under the finite time settling control scheme.
