    Abstract: The elastic stress field caused by an ellipsoidal inclusion with uniform dilatational eigenstrains is investigated for a semi-infinite solid. The result is expressed in terms of derivatives of elliptic integrals. Numerical examples are given to show the effect of the free surface with parameters of depth from the surface and shapes of the inclusion.
