Abstract: A numerical solution for the transient vibration of an arbitrary shell of revolution, surrounded by an acoustic medium, has been formulated in terms of the conformally mapped acoustic equations, fluid shell boundary conditions and spectral representation of the shell displacements. The technique readily includes the boundary condition at infinity, internal shell structure and is exact to within those approximations implicit in the finite-difference method.
