    Abstract: The dynamics of a damper that has been used to eliminate the free precession of flying, spinning objects are analyzed. There are three regimes in which the details of the mechanisms by which the viscous fluid dissipates the precessional energy differ markedly, and the fluid motion and energy-dissipation rate are described quantitatively for each regime.
