    Abstract: A general method, based on the line force concept, is presented for solving the generalized plane problems of elastic inclusions in anisotropic solids. Detailed analyses of the displacement and stress fields and the strain energies are developed for elliptic inclusions. A simple example in which both the inclusion and the matrix exhibit orthotropic symmetry is illustrated.
