ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Atomized Dielectric Spray Based Electric Discharge Machining for Sustainable Manufacturing
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A novel method of using atomized dielectric spray in microelectric discharge machining (EDM) (sprayEDM) to reduce the consumption of dielectric is developed in this study. The atomized dielectric droplets form a moving ...
Feasibility of Fiber Deposition Control by Secondary Electric Fields in Near Field Electrospinning
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Product miniaturization has become a trending technology in a broad range of industries and its development is being pushed by the requirements for complexity and resolution of micromanufactured products. However, there ...
Molecular Dynamics Simulation Study of Tool Wear in Vibration Assisted Nano Impact Machining by Loose Abrasives
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Vibration assisted nanoimpactmachining by loose abrasives (VANILA) is a novel target specific nanoabrasive machining process wherein, nanoabrasives, injected in slurry between the workpiece and the vibrating atomic force ...
Optothermal Modeling of Plasmonic Nanofocusing Structures With Nonlocal Optical Response and Ballistic Heat Transport
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Nanoscale optical energy focusing using plasmonic structures is crucial for many applications, such as imaging and lithography. Thermal management for these nanostructures is of great importance to maintain their reliabilities ...
A Study on Micromixing Utilizing Marangoni Effect Induced on Gas–Liquid Free Interfaces
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Traditionally, micromixing has been thought to be governed by molecular diffusion. However, the authors consider that advection is important in the mixing enhancement and applicable to micromixing devices in many industrial ...
Controlled Kinetic Monte Carlo Simulation for Computer Aided Nanomanufacturing
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Kinetic Monte Carlo (KMC) is regarded as an efficient tool for rare event simulation and has been applied in simulating bottom–up selfassembly processes of nanomanufacturing. Yet it has limitations to simulate top–down ...
Microthreading in Whirling
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Whirling is applied to machining of microscrews on thin wires. A micro whirling machine has been developed for this. In order to suppress the vibration of the workpiece, the wire is inserted in polyurethane tubes clamped ...
Quantifying Dispersion of Nanoparticles in Polymer Nanocomposites Through Transmission Electron Microscopy Micrographs
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The property of nanocomposites is crucially affected by nanoparticle dispersion. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) is the “golden standard†in nanoparticle dispersion characterization. A TEM Micrograph is a ...
A Novel Multimaterial Additive Manufacturing Technique for Fabricating Laminated Polymer Nanocomposite Structures
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The objective of this research is to develop a novel, multimaterial additive manufacturing technique for fabricating laminated polymer nanocomposite structures that have characteristic lengthscales in the tens of millimeters ...
Fabrication of Three Dimensional Functional Microstructures on Curved Substrates Using Three Dimensional Microlens Projection
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In this research, an innovative 3D micromachining process for functional microstructures on curved surfaces is introduced. An injection molded 3D polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) microlens array was used as projection optics. ...
