ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Special Issue on Non Traditional Manufacturing Processes Study at Micro and Nano Scales
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This special issue focuses on the established and emerging nontraditional manufacturing technologies with various energy sources (mechanical, thermal, optical, etc.) at microand nanoscales. It consists of several invited ...
Fabrication Technology of Low Adhesive Superhydrophobic and Superamphiphobic Surfaces Based on Electrochemical Machining Method
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Lowadhesive superhydrophobic and superamphiphobic (both superhydrophobic and superoleophobic) surfaces with a liquid contact angle larger than 150 deg and rolling angle less than 10 deg have attracted great interest for ...
Simulation and Experimental Study of the Effects of Process Factors on the Uniformity of the Residual Layer Thickness in Hot Embossing
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Hot embossing replica are characterized by the quality of the molded structures and the uniformity of the residual layer. In particular, the even distribution of the residual layer thickness (RLT) is an important issue in ...
Parametric Investigation Into the Fabrication of Disk Microelectrodes by Electrochemical Micromachining
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In electrochemical micromachining (EMM) of microfeatures using straight cylindrical microtools, sidewalls of the structure tapers as depth increases. Disk microtool electrodes are used to minimize the taper formation during ...
Characterization of “Bulk Lithography†Process for Fabrication of Three Dimensional Microstructures
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Various ways of fabricating a threedimensional (3D) component in a singlelayer exposure using spatial variation of exposure dose have been presented in the literature. While some of them are based on dynamic mask process, ...
Analysis and Design of Wire Transport System in Microwire Electronic Discharge Machining
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A dynamic model for analyzing the wire transport system of micro wEDM (wire electronic discharge machining) is proposed. Based on the model, two mechanisms are proposed to stabilize the wire tension. The first mechanism ...
Quantification of Thermal Resistance of Transient Liquid Phase Bonded Cu/Al/Cu Interfaces for Assembly of Cu Based Microchannel Heat Exchangers
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Transient liquid phase (TLP) bonding of Cu structures with a thin elemental Al intermediate bonding layer is being used to assemble Cubased, enclosed, microchannel heat exchangers (MHEs). The heterogeneous Cu/Al/Cu TLP ...
Stochastic Modeling of Microgrinding Wheel Topography
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Superabrasive microgrinding wheels are used for jig grinding of microstructures using various grinding approaches. The desire for increased final geometric accuracy in microgrinding leads to the need for improved process ...
Effect of Process Parameters on Burrs Produced in Micromilling of a Thin Nitinol Foil
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper examines the formation of burrs in micromilling of a thin nickel–titanium alloy (nitinol) foil used in implantable biomedical device applications. The paper analyzes the effects of key micromilling process ...
Joule Heat Welding of Thin Platinum and Tungsten Wires and the Thermoelectric Effects Around Bi Metal Junctions
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Fine thermoelectric elements were fabricated on electrode chips by welding together the tips of thin 5 خ¼m diameter Pt and W wires by Joule heat welding. The Pt/W junction was heated by bringing it into contact with a ...
