ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Effects of Wall Flexibility on the Rotordynamic Coefficients of Turbulent Cryogenic Annular Seals
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A theory for analyzing the effects of elastic deformations of the seal wall on the dynamic characteristics of high pressure cryogenic annular seals under concentric operation is presented. The ...
Transient Analysis of Plain and Tilt Pad Journal Bearings Including Fluid Film Temperature Effects
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The paper considers vibration response of spinning shafts supported by flexible fluid film bearings to sudden mass imbalance (blade loss). A time transient study of the plain journal bearing ...
A Finite Element Approach to Pad Flexibility Effects in Tilt Pad Journal Bearings: Part I—Single Pad Analysis
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A general method of incorporating pad flexibility effects into tilting pad isothermal bearing analysis is developed. The pad assembly approach is extended using 2-dimensional finite elements to ...
A Finite Element Approach to Pad Flexibility Effects in Tilt Pad Journal Bearings: Part II—Assembled Bearing and System Analysis
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Pad flexibility effects are studied in an actual bearing. This flexibility is shown to decrease the predicted instability onset speed of the rotor bearing system. The use of complex eigenvalue ...
Closure to “Discussion of ‘A Finite Element Approach to Pad Flexibility Effects in Tilt Pad Journal Bearings: Part I—Single Pad Analysis’” (1990, ASME J. Tribol., 112, p. 176)

Active Vibration Control of Rotating Machinery Using Piezoelectric Actuators Incorporating Flexible Casing Effects
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The modern trend toward lighter and more flexible designs in rotating machinery brings with it increasing demands for ways to dissipate the excess energy transferred to such structures by the ...
Active Vibration Control of Rotating Machinery With a Hybrid Piezohydraulic Actuator System
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: An integrated, compact piezohydraulic actuator system for active vibration control was designed and developed with a primary application for gas turbine aircraft engines. Copper tube was chosen ...
Electromechanical Simulation and Testing of Actively Controlled Rotordynamic Systems With Piezoelectric Actuators
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Past research on this subject has treated piezoelectric actuators as ideal devices that have tip displacements proportional to their input voltages, at any instant in time. This assumption ...
