ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Component Synthesis of Multicase, Rotating Machinery Trains by the Generalized Receptance Approach
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A method is presented for computing the eigenvalues of multicase, coupled, rotating machinery trains. The method is based on a synthesis technique which utilizes generalized receptance formulas, ...
Eigensolution Reanalysis of Rotor Dynamic Systems by the Generalized Receptance Method
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A method is presented for efficiently calculating the damped natural frequencies of complex rotor bearings systems. The procedure is applicable to the repeated reanalysis of rotor systems during ...
Hybrid Finite Element—Boundary Element Simulation of Rotating Machinery Supported on Flexible Foundation and Soil
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Relative and absolute shaft vibration data have revealed that the commonly made assumption of rigidly supported bearings may be grossly inaccurate, especially for fans, generator sets, and natural ...
Piezoelectric Pushers for Active Vibration Control of Rotating Machinery
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The active control of rotordynamic vibrations and stability by magnetic bearings and electromagnetic shakers has been discussed extensively in the literature. These devices, though effective, are ...
Test and Theory for Piezoelectric Actuator-Active Vibration Control of Rotating Machinery
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The application of piezoelectric actuators for active vibration control (AVC) of rotating machinery is examined. Theory is derived and the resulting predictions are shown to agree closely with ...
Hybrid Active Vibration Control of Rotorbearing Systems Using Piezoelectric Actuators
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The vibrations of a flexible rotor are controlled using piezoelectric actuators. The controller includes active analog components and a hybrid interface with a digital computer. The computer ...
Eddy Current Effects on the Design of Rotor-Magnetic Bearing Systems
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The recent growth of magnetic bearing applications in the chemical, utility and aerospace industries requires more accurate design tools to insure reliable and effective operation as components ...
A Forced Response Analysis and Application of Impact Dampers to Rotordynamic Vibration Suppression in a Cryogenic Environment
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A high speed damper test rig has been assembled at Texas A&M University to develop rotordynamic dampers for rocket engine turbopumps that operate at cryogenic temperatures, such as those ...
Active Control of Transient Rotordynamic Vibration by Optimal Control Methods
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Although considerable effort has been put into the study of steady-state vibration control, there are few methods applicable to transient vibration control of rotor-bearing systems. In this paper ...
Transient Analysis of Tilt Pad Journal Bearings Including Effects of Pad Flexibility and Fluid Film Temperature
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The paper considers vibration response of spinning shafts supported by flexible tilt pad journal bearings, to large mass imbalance (blade loss). A time transient study of the tilt pad journal ...
