ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

A Physically Based, One Dimensional Two Fluid Model for Direct Contact Condensation of Steam Jets Submerged in Subcooled Water
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A simulation model for the direct contact condensation of steam in subcooled water is presented that allows determination of major parameters of the process, such as the jet penetration length. Entrainment of water by the ...
Simulation of Supercritical CO2 Flow Through Circular and Annular Orifice
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Supercritical CO2 (sCO2) is a promising working fluid for future highefficiency power conversion cycles. In order to develop these cycles, it is necessary to understand supercritical and twophase CO2 flow. This paper ...
Characterization of Incandescent Particles Emitted by a Cut Off Grinder During Decommissioning Operations for Evaluating Filter Degradation
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The use of mechanical or thermal cutting tools when decommissioning nuclear facilities generates a lot of incandescent particles. These particles may represent a deterioration risk of the containment barriers associated ...
Power Cycles of Generation III and III+ Nuclear Power Plants
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: It is well known that electrical power generation is the key factor for advances in industry, agriculture, and standard of living. In general, electrical energy can be generated by (1)آ nonrenewable energy sources such as ...
Experimental Observations on Wake Characteristics of a Rising Bubble in a Vertical Narrow Rectangular Channel
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Wake characteristics of a rising air and vapor bubble through stagnant and flowing deionized water in a vertical narrow rectangular channel were investigated using particle image velocimetry (PIV). Influence of inlet average ...
Analysis of Focusing Effect of Light Metallic Layer in Stratified Molten Pool Under IVR ERVC Condition
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The main failure mechanism of invessel corium retention through external reactor vessel cooling (IVRERVC) happens when the local heat flux through reactor pressure vessel (PRV) wall exceeds the critical heat flux (CHF). ...
Thermal Hydraulic and Neutronic Analysis of a Reentrant Fuel Channel Design for Pressure Channel Supercritical Water Cooled Reactors
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: To address the need to develop new nuclear reactors with higher thermal efficiency, a group of countries, including Canada, have initiated an international collaboration to develop the next generation of nuclear reactors ...
Calculations and Measurements of Pressure Vessel Thermal Neutron Fluxes in the VVER 1000 Mock Up in the LR 0 Research Reactor
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper deals with measured as well as calculated parameters of thermal neutron transport in the reactor pressure vessel model, located behind the LR0 reactor vessel. A VVER1000 mockup core placed in the LR0 reactor is ...
Nuclear Energy Needs a Turning Point Soon
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Figureآ 1 shows the past and potential future of the U.S. nuclear power generation [1]. In the 1970s to 1990s, we were building nuclear power plants and reached roughly 19% nuclear power of the entire electric power demand. ...
Investigation of Buoyancy Effects on Heat Transfer Characteristics of Supercritical Carbon Dioxide in Heating Mode
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Experiments were performed to investigate the effects of buoyancy on heat transfer characteristics of supercritical carbon dioxide in heating mode. Turbulent flows with Reynolds numbers up to 60,000, at operating pressures ...
