ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Application of Level 3 Probabilistic Safety Analysis in UK HPR1000
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A Level 3 probabilistic safety assessment (L3 PSA) is required in United Kingdom (UK) generic design assessment (GDA) to demonstrate that a new nuclear power plant is suitable to be built in UK. L3 PSA is used to assess ...
Feasibility Study on the Application of Boron Carbide for Long Term Reactivity Control in the LOTUS Small Fast Reactor
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: 200 MWth lead-cooled fast reactor (LOTUS) reactor core is a small modular lead-cooled fast reactor with designed power of 200 MWth under development at Vietnam National University (VNU) University of Science, Hanoi for a ...
On Frequency/Time Invariance of Certain Temporal and Complex Transfer Functions for the One-Dimensional Interfacial Monochromatic Neutron Density Wave
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Optimization of dynamical multibeam neutron cancer therapy has recently been shown to be possible via employment of the beam frequencies of neutron waves as a control variable. The concepts of transfer functions (TF), ...
Thermomechanical Performance Assessment of U-Mo Monolithic Fuel Plates With Zircaloy Cladding
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Performance of two distinct fuel systems, U-7Mo fuel in Zircaloy (Zry-4) cladding and U-10Mo fuel in aluminum (Al6061-O) cladding was studied. First, a mini plate with Zry-4 cladding from a previous irradiation experiment ...
Interactions Between Molten Sodium and Standard Pipe Insulation
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Safety system design and implementation are critical to the operation of any nuclear plant. For sodium-cooled nuclear reactors, hazards external to the reactor core are present in the form of molten sodium that leaks through ...
Cold Crucible Facility for Severe Accident Research at Canadian Nuclear Laboratories
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The properties and behavior of corium are important factors in the progression and ultimate consequences of a severe nuclear reactor accident. Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) is developing a cold crucible facility to ...
