ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Computational Differential Algebraic Equation Framework and Multi Spatial and Time Discretizations Preserving Consistent Second-Order Accuracy: Nonlinear Dynamics
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: We propose the novel design, development, and implementation of the well-known generalized single step single solve (GS4) family of algorithms into the differential algebraic equation framework which not only allows ...
An Effective Topological Representation and Dimensionality Reduction Approach for Multi-Material Structural Topology Optimization
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Topology optimization is among the most effective tools for innovative and lightweight structural designs. Multi-material design is considered to achieve better structural performance than single-material design. To ...
Effect of Material Distribution in the Unit Cell on Effective Thermal Conductivity and Young's Modulus of Cellular Structure
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Effective thermal conductivity and Young's modulus of periodic unit cell geometries are widely studied in the literature. This paper compares and contrasts strut-based unit cells against surface-based unit cells obtained ...
Loading–Unloading Behavior of a Spherical Contact for Varying Tangent Modulus and Yield Strength
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Understanding the elastoplastic contact loading–unloading behavior between a sphere and a rigid plane is a problem in the field of contact mechanics. In this study, a bilinear strain-hardening material model was used to ...
Elastic Properties and Bandgaps of Mechanical Metastructures Modified by Tension–Torsion Coupling Component
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The term “modification” often appears in physics, chemistry, biology, etc., but rarely in structural mechanics, this study proposes the concept of mechanically modified metastructures, which aims to modify conventional ...
A Simple Model for Inflexed Multilayered Laminated Glass Beams Based on Refined Zig-Zag Theory
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Laminated glass is a composite made of glass plies sandwiching polymeric interlayers, permanently bonded with a process at high pressure and temperature in autoclave. Within the quasi-elastic approximation, according to ...
Coupling of a Magnetic Field With Instability for Multimodal and Multistep Deformations of a Curved Beam With Asymmetric Magnetic Torque
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A bistable curved beam with magnetic-torque-driven actuation has the potential for fast and untethered reconfiguration of metamaterials. However, there is currently no modeling method for a bistable curved beam for which ...
Electroadhesion-Mediated Interface Delamination for Assembly of Reconfigurable 3D Mesostructures
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Recently developed buckling-guided assembly methods provide a unique route to the design and manufacture of 3D mesostructures and microelectronic devices with superior performances and unusual functions. Combined with ...
Axisymmetric Indentations of an Elastic Half-Space With Tensed Surface/Membrane in the Johnson–Kendall–Roberts Adhesive Approximation
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Owing to the significant effects of adhesive force and surface/membrane tension, the classical contact models often fail to describe the indentation responses of soft materials and biological systems. This work addresses ...
Nonstationary Stochastic Response of Hysteretic Systems Endowed With Fractional Derivative Elements
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In this paper, a computationally efficient approach is proposed for the determination of the nonstationary response statistics of hysteretic oscillators endowed with fractional derivative elements. This problem is of ...
