ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Hyperelastic Thin Shells: Equilibrium Equations and Boundary Conditions
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The equilibrium equations and boundary conditions in terms of the second Piola–Kirchhoff membrane stress and moment are given in this note, which are necessary for the finite deformation analysis of shells.
Coupled and Self Adaptive Under Actuated Finger With a Novel S Coupled and Secondly Self Adaptive Mechanism
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper presents a novel underactuated (UA) finger with first coupled and secondly selfadaptive (COSA) grasping mode. COSA fingers can adaptively grasp objects with different sizes and shapes while its motions during ...
Postbuckling of Hyperelastic Plates
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Curvature is simply expressed as the second derivative of the plate deflection in prior studies of postbuckling of plates. It is shown in this paper that the higherorder terms in curvature should be retained, consistent ...
Influence of Main Swirler Vane Angle on the Ignition Performance of TeLESS-II Combustor
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In order to balance the low emission and wide stabilization for lean premixed prevaporized (LPP) combustion, the centrally staged layout is preferred in advanced aero-engine combustors. However, compared with the conventional ...
Enhancement of Plastering Effect on Strengthening Wellbore by Optimizing Particle Size Distribution of Wellbore Strengthening Materials
Publisher: American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Wellbore strengthening materials (WSMs) have been widely used to strengthen the wellbore stability and integrity, especially those lost circulation materials (LCMs) used for mud loss impairment. To enhance the wellbore ...
Enhanced Heat Transfer Using Microporous Copper Inverse Opals
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Enhanced boiling is one of the popular cooling schemes in thermal management due to its superior heat transfer characteristics. This study demonstrates the ability of copper inverse opal (CIO) porous structures to enhance ...
Role of Capillary and Thermocapillary Forces in Laser Polishing of Metals
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: As one of emerging novel surface treatment techniques, laser polishing offers a cost-effective and efficient solution to reduce surface roughness of precision components at micro-/mesoscale. Although it has been applied ...
Design of Contact-Aided Compliant Flexure Hinge Mechanism Using Superelastic Nitinol
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper presents a novel miniature contact-aided compliant mechanism (CCM) that includes flexure hinges and contact-aided structures. This continuum mechanism comprises a nickel–titanium alloy (Nitinol) tube with CCM ...
Kinetostatic Modeling of Dual-Drive H-Type Gantry With Exchangeable Flexure Joints
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The flexure joints are proposed to replace the rigid assembly between the cross-arm and the moving carriages of dual-drive H-type gantry (DHG) for higher reliability and fine rotational alignments. In the literature, the ...
Combustion Instabilities With Different Degrees of Premixedness in a Separated Dual-Swirl Burner
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The effects of premixedness degrees on combustion instabilities of separated dual-swirl flames have been investigated experimentally in the Beihang Axial Swirler Independently Stratified (BASIS) burner. The degree of ...
