ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Pretwisted Curved Beams of Thin-Walled Open Section
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Equations of motion are derived for coupled extension, flexure, and torsion of pretwisted curved bars of thin-walled, open section. The derivation is based on energy principles and includes ...
On Seal Forces in Removable End Closures in Very High Pressure Test Chambers
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Effective Bending Properties for Stress Analysis of Rectangular Tubesheets
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The analysis of perforated plates has immediate application to tubesheet design. However, successful tubesheet stress analysis requires knowledge of tubesheet elastic properties; considerable effort ...
A Design Procedure for Evaluating the Tube Axial Load due to Thermal Effects in Multi-Pass Fixed Tubesheet Exchangers
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The unequal length change of the tubes in various tube passes of a multi-tube pass fixed or floating head tubular exchanger produces axial tube loads which may be substantial in some operating ...
Load-Deformation Behavior of Elastic Beam-Columns on Yielding Foundations
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The effect of an elastic-perfectly plastic foundation on compressive load carrying capacity of beam columns is considered. The configuration studied simulates a power plant condenser support plate ...
The Tubesheet Analysis Method in the New HEI Condenser Standards
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The new Heat Exchange Institute (HEI) condenser standard [1] provides a method for tubesheet analysis. The historical background of this method is reviewed. The structural design problem of a ...
Limit Design of Condenser Hotwell Floors
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Rigid plastic plate theory is used to determine the limit load for a pipe-supported flat plate loaded by uniform pressure. The solution is applied to design of condenser hotwell floors under ...
Higher-Order Theories for Structural Analysis Using Legendre Polynomial Expansions
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Governing equations of plane elasticity are examined to define suitable approximate theories. Each dependent variable in the problem is considered as a series expansion in Legendre polynomials; ...
On the Solution of Finite-Deformation Problems of Beams Using Rate Equations
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
On Analysis of Cable Network Vibrations Using Galerkin’s Method
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Built-up systems consisting of rectangular cable networks covered by or embedded in a membrane matrix are considered; small oscillations about an initially flat, pretensioned state are studied. ...
