    Abstract: A simple general formula is derived for the ratio of the maximum dynamic to static deflection of heated beams and plates. The formula, although approximate, is in good agreement with the exact results. The effects of damping and of axial or in-plane loads are then considered, and the pertinent generalizations of the previous approximate formula are derived.
