description abstractA new relation is presented to describe the deviations from the cosine law for cylindrical anemometer sensors inclined to the flow direction. The formula correlates the data for both hot-wire and hot-film sensors. One experimentally determined parameter, depending on the length-to-diameter ratio of the sensor, is used. The resulting corrections to the use of the cosine law for turbulent velocity correlations are also presented.
