Abstract: This paper deals with problems in dynamics in which a moving system is subjected to imposition (or relaxation) of constraints. Three phases of motion are associated with these types of problems: an unconstrained motion, imposition of constraints, and constrained motion. The equations governing each of the phases are derived and an algorithm for combining these into one coherent computer code is built and used in connection with an illustrative example.
