description abstract | This paper presents a straightforward method for the direct determination of the steady solutions in shakedown analysis. The direct method was first proposed by Zarka et al. This paper simplifies this method by showing that the modified hardening parameter field can be directly found from the yield condition and the incremental residual stress. Thus, only two elastic analyses are required to obtain the shakedown solutions without the need of performing a full-scale analysis. The two-bar structure and the tube problem are solved as examples to show the feasibility and efficiency of this approach. | |
